Feeding Of Puppets Puppets of 1.5 to 2 months old should be fed 6 times a day approximately in equal intervals with the night break of 6 to 7 hours. At the age of two-three months the puppets should be fed 5 times a day with equal intervals being observed between each feeding. Puppets of 4 to 6-7 months should be fed four times a day and the young dogs of 8 to one year three times a day. The dog older than a year eats twice per day. The small puppy should sleep a lot. It will wake up only to eat, go to the bathroom and play a little bit. The puppy should be fed at strictly defined hours and never fed additionally in between feeding times. The food should be given in sufficient amount but not to exceed a measure that would be enough for a puppy with a good appetite to eat everything and then lick out the dish. Any unusual food should be introduced to a puppy tentatively in small portions. Never introduce two new kinds of food at the same time. If the puppy plays with the food and not eats it you should withdraw the dish and wait for the next meal time. Under no circumstances leave the food in an easily accessible for a puppy place for the whole day: it will eat randomly. If the puppy does not eat all the meal it was given you should cut it down and vice versa if the meal appears insufficient you should increase it a little the at the time of the next feeding. Amount of food that constitutes one single meal and its content depend on the puppy’s built: it can be either thin or thick. Overloaded intestines weighs the puppy down, arouses vomiting and may induce rickets; at the same time the overweight applies an excessive load on the puppy’s legs whose joints bones didn’t have time to get strong enough.
